(Primarily Remote – Must be available to travel to Consumers Energy
Service Centers as needed) of Openings: 2 Job Description Consumers
Energy is seeking a GIS Technician I to support the entry and
verification of gas service data within GIS and SAP systems. The
ideal candidate will work primarily in a remote setting, with
flexibility to report to local Service Centers on an as-needed
basis. Key Responsibilities Input gas service record data into GIS
systems using field redlines, design drawings, and SAP Work
Management System (WMS) data. Verify the quality, accuracy, and
completeness of GIS records. Update GIS asset locations and
attributes when discrepancies or corrections are identified. Ensure
service designs meet required specifications and data standards.
Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to resolve design
and data issues. Maintain production targets and timelines while
ensuring data integrity. Required Skills and Qualifications
Knowledge of GIS platforms, particularly ESRI ArcGIS. Understanding
of utility or gas distribution systems. Proficiency in Microsoft
Office applications, especially Excel and Word. Ability to follow
established processes and work independently in a virtual/remote
environment. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new tasks and technologies.
Preferred Skills Experience with SAP or other Work Management
Systems. Background in customer service or utility record
maintenance. Familiarity with engineering or gas service design
documentation. Education High School Diploma or GED required. About
