Our Research & Development has frequently been the source of biological solutions, which were subsequently adopted worldwide.Role The R&D Scientist develops and harnesses analytics and specialized technical knowledge of the biology and mass production of beneficial insects to help drive successful production programs at Koppert. Working together with cross-functional teams, you will actively contribute to the development and continuous improvement of insect products and production processes, in order to ensure efficient, cost-effective, high-quality products. As an R&D scientist, you will primarily engage in a variety of assignments under the scope of the R&D function. You may also be expected to perform additional tasks outside of you core function in support of Quality Assurance, Production, Special Projects and other functions. Duties and Responsibilities-- Continually develop knowledge of our products and their production to become an internal subject matter expert. -- Independently perform hands-on bench or field work of a technical nature, spanning the fields of entomology, ecology, horticulture, infectious diseases, insect husbandry, molecular biology, etc.-- Provide guided leadership and/or support for concurrent, independent or collaborative research projects. Manages project/trial workflows and the organized documentation of experimental results from conceptualization through execution, troubleshooting, analysis, and communication of outcomes. -- Effectively translate research questions into practical, testable hypotheses.-- Ensure the execution and timely completion of high-quality R&D trials. -- Leverage analytics to facilitate increased understanding and improvement of production/biological systems.-- Support development of product specifications and quality metrics to deliver optimal product and process performance. -- Successfully interact and align with various functional roles to drive project completion.-- Collaborate with QA and Production Management to troubleshoot issues on the production floor.-- Provide support to the Quality function as needed. .

Skills and Qualifications-- Effectively conducts and synthesizes research into actionable plans to drive continuous improvement and solve complex challenges. -- Demonstrated capabilities in experimental design and execution within biological/production systems. Effectively uses data from analytical evaluations to support conclusions. -- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to expert and non-expert stakeholders in written and verbal form.-- Applied knowledge in statistics, data/database management and data visualization.-- Manages workload in a timely and proactive way; prioritizes effectively.Education and Experience-- Master's degree in entomology, organismal biology, molecular biology or related field with three to five years of relevant experience or BA/BS with 5-10 years of relevant experience. Ph.D. holders with a successful track record of research outcomes in entomological systems and/or product development encouraged to apply. -- Significant experience working in a life science/biomedical lab environment using standard/specialized equipment. -- Experience using statistical software packages (i.e. Minitab, R, etc.) to analyze data sets of varying complexity.-- Experience and comfort conducting husbandry of live animals and/or rearing of insects in a laboratory setting.-- Previous experience working with regulatory affairs and governmental regulatory bodies a plus (USDA, FDA, EPA, etc.).Working Conditions-- General office/laboratory/production environment: Works generally at a desk in a well-lit, air-conditioned cubicle/office, with mild to moderate noise levels. -- Regular exposure to bumble bees and live insects.-- Regular exposure to hot or humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions. -- Domestic/International travel occasionally required.
