North America Rail Transit Services Monitor

Kelly is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented
Rail Transit Services Monitor to join a leading team in Midland,
MI! The North America Rail Transit Services (NARTS) Monitor is
responsible for the monitoring of railcar movement exceptions to
and from Dow and JV Affiliate locations and external customers
sites, coordinate changes to Bill of Lading in transit (diversions,
reshipments, railcar to truck transfers, returns, cancellations,
expedites) to ensure on time delivery and to reduce railcar cycle
time. Job Expectations
- Railcar track and tracing: monitor inbound and outbound railcar
exceptions per work processes to minimize delays in shipments.
- Coordinate and make changes to Bill of Lading by working with
rail carriers and Customer Service to correct any changes to
consignee name, address or carrier information to ensure proper
paperwork is available for railcar movements.
- Coordinate non-routine special train/special switches into
customer locations or manufacturing sites and follow up.
- Coordinate with railroads, business request to position a
railcar for transfer of product into a truck (expediting delivery).
Subsequent follow-up with functions/business/railroad.
- Diversions/reshipments - Responsible for diverting a railcar
while in transit from one location to another as requested by
Customer Service Center, Schedulers, Planners, etc.
- Other projects as assigned. Activities
- Railcar track and tracing: GVP (Global Visibility Platform -
third party web-based tracking software) and railroad tracking
systems are used to obtain real time reports on rail car locations
and times at location. If escalation is required, phone calls and
email messages are used to contact railroads to ensure rail cars
are not delayed in transit which could lead to plant or customer
- Update GVP with comments and estimated arrival times for
railcars moving to/from Dow & JV Affiliates shipping locations and
- Monitor team functional mailbox for rail exception requests and
system generated reports. Investigate request; communicate status
to requestor and update appropriate data in various rail
- Arrange 'special' train or switch rail transit requests.
Includes coordinating special request with railroad obtaining costs
for service and business approval. Monitors request to completion.
- Associate Degree preferred Experience
- 1-2 years of work experience, preferably in Supply Chain or
rail Other Qualifications
- Prefer Proficiency in GVP, Mainframe applications, SAP.
