The selected candidate will be responsible for all controls engineering activities on 2nd shift in their assigned area(s). Responsibilities will include supporting the maintenance organization with equipment downtime resolutions, providing feedback to peers and support staff of critical events, and working with support groups to bring solutions to systemic plant floor equipment issues. This will be performed in a plant environment where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is exercised as well as a high level of independent judgment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adherence to all GM safety protocols including the UAW/GM Electrical Safe Work Practices
  • Work closely with our UAW partners to resolve equipment downtime issues
  • Bring forth continuous improvement ideas to provide improvements in Thruput, Quality and Cost
  • Performs controls activities related to sustainment and changes of IT Systems
  • Works closely with multi-disciplined teams to understand functional requirements, contribute to generation of innovative ideas, develop project plans and implement appropriate solutions
  • Communicates information to internal customers, quickly finds common ground with peers and solves problems for the good of the business
  • Actively participate in the TIP Process to define and accomplish daily tasks and meet Manufacturing goals.

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated interest and ability to learn and apply agile methodologies
  • Effectively deals with ambiguity and copes with change
  • Experience in troubleshooting equipment
  • Deep technical knowledge and ability in engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical, electrical and IT systems
  • Highly skilled in common controls related topics - machine logic, robots, safety circuits, IT integration, etc.
  • Demonstrate excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve
  • Must be trained in and proficient with the following controls systems/architectures:

    -GM Global Common Controls Architecture

    -Rockwell PLC /Studio 500 Logic Development

    -Siemens PLC / Simatic Step 7

    -Siemens HMI / WinCC / TIA Portal

    -Siemens 840D SL NC Control

    -Fanuc Robots

    -Fanuc 16i/18i/35i CNC Control

    -Cognex Camera / Insight Explorer

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree with major in electrical engineering or equivalent experience
