Job Description:

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Team Lead ensures the day to day operations of his/her assigned area and shift, directing the work and providing assistance to team members to ensure the correct processes are being followed at all times. He/She supports operations as subject matter expert and participates in coaching, training, and developing employees.

The Team Lead, Machining Direct primarily performs work alongside the members of his/her team in the 02 cell.

SHIFT
BRI - Shift 3 (15%) (United States of America - Michigan)

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Assist the Supervisor, Operations in the oversight of shop-floor day to day processes or operations
  • Assign work to ensure On-Time In Full completion of work. Monitors individual productivity, as directed by Supervisors. Reports outcomes to Supervisor.
  • Ensure materials are available to complete scheduled work; maintain consumable supplies (e.g. Kanban)
  • Ensure production metrics are being tracked as required and earned hours are achieved
  • Report out at daily Gemba and lean daily management (LDM)
  • Assist Supervisor in developing and implementing procedures, and ensure they are being followed
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, worker performance, quality and delivery of product
  • Keep the Supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance
  • Daily and where needed, perform the work of the team members, ensuring coverage and continuous operation
  • Coach team members to be successful
  • Assist or perform training of personnel as directed by the department supervisor.
  • Communicate the performance goals to the individuals in the department.
  • Communicate regularly to supervisor on performance, quality, schedules, operations and other issues as necessary.
  • Assist in eliminating safety hazards; promote safe work practices and environment; investigate accidents as necessary.
  • Complete various reports, audits, checklists and training forms as scheduled or requested and provide information to other personnel as necessary.
  • Visually inspect machined parts
  • Ensures standard operating procedures (standard work) are available, up to date, and followed by team members
  • Produces parts by editing programs, setting up, and operating a machine, such as; a computer numerical control (CNC) machine or other equipment, as applicable
  • May participate in interviewing candidates for positions. Does not have hiring/termination authority.
  • Is a technical subject matter expert to employees.
  • Inspecting equipment to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects
  • Perform basic maintenance on machines to ensure proper function


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

WORK EXPERIENCE
2+ Years of experience in a manufacturing environment (Required), Experience as a trainer (Preferred), Experience leading a small group or project team (Preferred), Experience of the processes in the work area (Preferred)

EDUCATION
Associates of Science (A.S), , High School Or Equivalent Required, Associates of Arts (A.A)

CERTIFICATIONS
Any - Trade School

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Frequent and repetitive use of hands and fingers, and handle small objects and tools

Corrected vision of no less than 20/20

Viewing parts under microscope for extended periods of time

Lifting of materials to 60# up to 33% of the time.

Requires repetitive grasping, manipulation of materials.

Requires occasional sitting with frequent walking and/or standing.

Requires talking and hearing.
