Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory Care Specialty: Agency Staff Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 2x3 Days Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum 2 Years License: State Respiratory Therapy License Certifications: RRT, NRP, BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Must live one hour away from facility Description: Applies scientific knowledge and therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care. As a team member in the delivery of respiratory services and under medical direction, performs a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs, including those in Pediatric areas. Performs evaluations to determine respiratory care needs. Makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines. Assesses the effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to departmental and legal/regulatory standards. Completes and documents required education and competencies within the designated timeframe. Maintains competency in areas of accountability. Completes all necessary documentation and billing accurately and timely. Facilitates a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services, the next point of service, or home. Provides education to patients and families as it relates to respiratory issues. Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel, and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services. Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate. Completes all position and unit safety-related competencies and requirements on a timely basis. Performs other duties as assigned.
