Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Afternoon Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: 2 years of CT experience required License: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certifications: BLS, ARRT (CT) Must-Have: Must possess strong communication skills. Must demonstrate ownership, understanding, motivation, sensitivity, and excellence in service. Must practice customer service skills through ongoing training. Must be self-directed, flexible, and committed to teamwork. Must accept and respect diversity without judgment. Description: Under general supervision, specializes in performing computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination. Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examinations. Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary. Prepares the procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies. Analyzes anatomical structures of patients, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan. Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied. Administers intravenous contrast media, including utilization of power injectors. Monitors patients for possible reactions as appropriate to the study and provides immediate care if a reaction occurs. May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure. Ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored. Assists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies. Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating principles of radiation protection. Resolves any image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery. Completes all study indexing in the Radiology Information System. Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with radiologists before performing studies. Demonstrates team standards of excellence, including open communication and a positive attitude. Performs all documentation in the medical record as necessary. May work in a hospital fixed unit or in an ambulatory mobile unit. May be potentially exposed to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized. May be exposed to high-voltage equipment and potentially contagious patients. Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment and/or patients.
