physics team in a growing center? The Karmanos Cancer Institute at
McLaren Flint has an opening for a board certified or board
eligible medical physicist. The position is part of a core team of
4 physicists that are primarily responsible for supporting x-ray
physics activities in the Flint center and two nearby satellite
centers.The TeamThe successful candidate will join a team of 9
physicists (4 x-ray and 5 proton), 6 dosimetrists, and 4 physicians
providing care for cancer patients across a main center and two
satellite centers in the Karmanos network.The physics team
collaborates in all areas of patient care and technical duties and
the new team member would have immediate opportunities to make
significant contributions across the spectrum of physics
duties.TechnologiesThe main center has two Varian TrueBeams,
Phillips CT Simulator, GammaMed Plus HDR unit. The satellite
centers are both equipped with Varian 21iX LINACs that are
scheduled to be replaced with Varian TrueBeams within 1 years. We
offer a broad range of treatments to our patients including
SRS/SBRT, respiratory gating, and brachytherapy.All centers utilize
Eclipse treatment planning and Aria record and verify on a common
system that is shared with the other Karmanos network sites.The
main site also provides proton therapy through the McLaren Proton
Therapy System that has two half gantries, integrated CBCT for
image guidance, and a synchrotron-based delivery system.Essential
ResponsibilitiesAcceptance and commissioning of LINACImplementation
of clinical stereotactic programRadiation therapy equipment
calibration, quality assuranceCollaboration with clinical and
medical staff on simulation and treatment planning.Provide ongoing
oversight of quality and safety of patient treatment
deliveryParticipation in department quality assurance and
continuous quality improvement programs.Participation in clinical
research effortsCollaborates in network physics
initiativesRequirementsMaster's or PhD degree in medical physics or
related discipline.Board Certified or eligible for certification in
therapeutic medical physics from American Board of Radiology (ABR)
or equivalent certificationTwo or more years of prior work
experience as a Medical Physicist or Medical Physics Resident in
full-service radiation therapy center.Per Centers for Medicare &
Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations, all McLaren employees must be
