Summary Medical Assistant Position Summary: This position provides friendly, professional and efficient telephone answering, call directing, staff paging and visitor greeting. Performs various data entry and word processing tasks, processes incoming interoffice and USPS mail and outgoing interoffice mail. Responsible for performing clinical scheduling and patient admitting in collaboration with all disciplines and facilitating communication related to scheduling. Responsible for coordinating with physicians and providers on patient prescriptions and refills as well administer medications as ordered. A Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant at MyMichigan Health: (20%)* Communicate with outside facilities to coordinate patient care (20%)* Prepare patient prescriptions for doctors and call pharmacies (20%)* Register, obtain, verify, and update insurance, financial, and demographic information with the patient (20%)* Obtain pre-certification and prior authorization for medications and clinical procedures (20%)* Appointment scheduling Requirements We Are Looking For: Medical Assistant Certification or LPN license required. High School Diploma or GED required. Other Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare clinical setting for the day. Phlebotomy, lab result documentation. Arrange for hospital admissions. Supply ordering. Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections.
