This position is responsible for providing advanced specialty care
in Occupational Therapy. This position performs direct patient
care, supervisory, educational and administrative functions and is
responsible for marketing, program development and program
- Evaluates the patient's function by performing formal/informal
testing measures to determine the skeletal, neurological,
respiratory, cardiovascular status, developmental, social, and
- Develops a goal specific treatment regime based on assessment
data and the patient's tolerance to carry-out the treatment plan as
- Submits a written treatment regime to be included as part of
the plan of treatment authorized by and coordinated with the
physician. Updates plan of care as needed to reflect changes in
patient status. Co-signs verbal orders received by occupational
therapist assistant as necessary.
- Devises a schedule of treatment, which is frequency and
duration specific to be discussed with patient/family/caregiver and
coordinated with clinical support staff.
- Educates patient, family, and/or caregiver regarding pathology
or condition, patient alternatives, prognosis, and rationale for
treatment through forms of rest, exercise, modalities, and other
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
BLS: Basic Life Support Required within 30 days of hire or transfer
into the position.
National Board Occupational Therapy required.
State of Michigan Occupational Therapist required.
Bachelors Degree Occupational Therapy required, masters degree
Successful completion of MidMichigan Health and affiliate specific
Successful completion of new hire competency.
Interpersonal skills needed for effective verbal and written
communication in the English language to interact with people
individually and in a group at all levels.
Ability to work independently, demonstrating problem solving and
organizational skills, time management skills and initiative.
Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing is required and must be done
Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is
required and must be completed annually according to the Exposure
Ability to work where employee may be exposed to communicable
Ability to use personal protective equipment correctly.
Ability to perform essential job functions with reasonable
Ability to demonstrate and teach selected treatment routines to
appropriate professional and non-professional individuals.
