JOB PURPOSE:The Director of Accounting oversees the organization's financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls, while also leading and developing the accounting team. LOCATIONS:Corporate HQ - Brighton, MIKEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Will include, but not limited to the following:

  • Maintain internal safeguards for revenue recognition, costs, and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition of complex sales transactions
  • Establish and maintain (in coordination with EVP) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis;
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows;
  • Oversee and support multi-site accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity;
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of accurate and timely financial statements to include balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements and ensures compliance with GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of changes in accounting regulations and standards;
  • Develop, implement and monitor budgeting processes, budget forecasts and actual performance against budgets;
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks;
  • Perform complex financial data analysis to identify trends and opportunities;
  • Communicate financial results and status to management and appropriate executives.
  • Manage the company's financial accounts, budget, cash receipts, and financial assets
  • Prepare and oversee the company's cash flow forecasting and planning.
  • Directs the maintenance of the organization's general ledger and oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close and financial reporting.
  • Contract negotiations ANCILLARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Support internal and external audit requests by providing account analyses and support for selections;
    • Provide support in the areas of sales tax and corporate income tax
    • Partner with other leaders within the Backoffice team, Sales, and Manufacturing to meet company goals
    • Preparing financial reports and verifying their accuracy;
    • Analyzing financial data as part of the company's broader decision-making process;
    • Work across multiple time zones and ability to prioritize tasks
    • All other duties, as needed or required; QUALIFICATIONS: ESSENTIALRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
      • 10 or more years' experience in accounting and finance, including experience in a leadership role as a manager of people.
      • Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis;
      • Exemplary history of financial project management;
      • Knowledge of IFRS15 and IFRS16 standards
      • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills;
      • Ability to work with large amounts of data and ensure accuracy.
      • Advanced Excel skills, ability to create Pivot Tables and V-lookups for analysis and complex formulas
      • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data;
      • High attention to detail and accuracy;
      • Extensive experience working with a fully integrated ERP system;
      • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team;Certificates, License, Registrations:
        • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance;
        • Must be US Citizen DESIRABLE
          • Five or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
          • MS Navision or similar system
          • Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant) FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES
            • Strong financial skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, along with internal controls and compliance knowledge, and the ability to manage transaction processes and improve efficiency
            • A solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant accounting standards
            • Expertise in preparing and analyzing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
            • Ability to develop and manage budgets, forecast financial performance, and monitor variances
            • Understanding cost behavior, cost allocation, and cost management techniques
            • Knowledge of tax laws and regulations, including preparing and filing tax returns
            • Expertise in designing, implementing, and monitoring internal controls to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data
            • Strong organization skills
            • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
            • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout Company organization
            • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

                • Ability to sit for long periods of time.

                • Some work may require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the work site.
