Job Description:

A growing and profitable Manufacturing Company in the Alpena, Michigan area is in need of a Human Resource Manager. Preferring Candidates with previous Human Resource Management Experience and Union Plant Manufacturing Expertise. A Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred.

This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Vacation.

--- Develop a high performing workforce, ensuring the right talent to accomplish business objectives
--- Improve organizational culture ensuring emphasis on quality, continuous improvement, collaboration and respect, employee retention and development, communication, and high performance
--- Manage and administer labor relations activities including negotiating and interpreting collective bargaining agreements and grievance resolution up to and including arbitration at unionized sites
--- Provide leadership and oversight regarding human resources practices, policies, and employment laws.
--- Manage and administer employee benefit plans and programs in compliance with established company practices and policies.
--- Collaborate with HR COE & manage corporate HR COE initiatives including salaried talent acquisition, learning and development, compensation, retirement, and benefits.
--- Promote talent development and create a talent pipeline for key positions.
--- Lead performance management process, including performance evaluation and calibration process.
--- Manage hourly employee talent acquisition including developing best practices attracting, interviewing, assessing, retaining, rewarding, engaging and managing the performance of an hourly workforce.
--- Collaborate with state and local government employment and training agencies and local trade schools to maximize available resources and programs.
--- Partner with site management regarding salaried employee performance management, personal development and employment decisions.
--- Participate on required site level steering committees (i.e. business leadership, safety, etc.)
--- Assure Legal & Corporate Compliance including conducting required training and investigations.
--- Analyze HR KPIs and other employment metrics to assist in data driven decision making.
--- Identify training needs for sites.
--- Prepare new job descriptions and evaluations.
--- Perform weekly safety audits in assigned area; attends monthly site safety training.

--- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience required; Advanced degree preferred
--- Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources Management experience in a Large Union Manufacturing Environment Required
--- Minimum of 8+ years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
--- Strong experience in three or more of the following areas: human resources management, organizational development, change management, process improvement, compensation, staffing, and employee relations.
--- Labor Relations & Collective Bargaining Experience is Required
--- Experience in culture transformation, change management, and employee engagement is desired
--- Leadership within a regional HR organization that involves strong collaboration with the Corporate organization.
--- Handling sensitive issues with diplomacy and demonstrating respect for people from all backgrounds
--- Thorough knowledge and understanding of required processes and laws for legal and corporate compliance
--- Prefer professional credentials (HRCI and/or SHRM)
