The University of Michigan-Flint invites applications and nominations for its Vice Provost for Enrollment Management. The University of Michigan-Flint serves approximately 6,400 learners and offers degrees in over 190--areas of study and over 60 graduate programs and certificates, including four professional doctorates and a Ph.D. in physical therapy. The University also offers programs in liberal arts and sciences, technology, elementary or secondary education, health care, and business. The academic campus community is comprised of over 500 faculty members, in addition to over 450 staff.-- One of three campuses of the University of Michigan, UM-Flint's development in recent years has paralleled that of its host city. Flint, with a population of approximately 100,000, is located about 60 miles north of Detroit and is in the midst of a similarly profound transformation. Although the city is best known as the birthplace of General Motors, shifts in industry have caused the area to become better known for its educational opportunities, cultural centers, medical facilities, and recreational activities. Visitors who return to the city after several years are amazed at the ongoing transformation, and UM-Flint has played a central role in the progress the city has made. Responsibilities* Reporting to the Provost and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, the Vice Provost will lead a talented team of enrollment management staff that includes Admissions, Financial Aid, the Registrar, Graduate Programs and other enrollment-related services. With the full support of the Provost and Chancellor, the Vice Provost will be charged with elevating an integrated and robust enrollment function aimed at strategically positioning UM-Flint for long-term growth and future success.-- The Vice Provost will have the following responsibilities/job duties: Develop a strategic plan to increase enrollment including specific plans, goals and strategies for recruitment, admissions, financial aid, and retention. Work collaboratively with senior leadership on establishing measurable goals for diversity, academic profile, and student success. Serve as an active member of the Provost's senior leadership team at the University of Michigan - Flint campus providing counsel to the Provost on all aspects of enrollment management.-- Oversee budget, personnel, technology, and workflow for a complex division of the campus. Oversee the recruitment and hiring of all staff under the division. Ensure that appropriate professional development programs are available to staff as they carry out their responsibilities for an integrated approach to recruitment and enrollment management. Actively engage in an open dialogue with faculty, parents, senior level administration, and others on matters related to enrollment management Actively seek innovative technologies in support of program development and implementation. Lead the division in the creation and dissemination of clear and compelling marketing messages to prospective students. Oversee the development and administration of unit budgets, ensuring that expenses are consistent with the priorities reflected in the division's strategic initiatives. Enroll classes of sufficient size and mix of students to support the institution's vision and goals. Provide leadership and coordination for the University's overall enrollment strategies and implementation.-- Data gathering and assessment: Internal culture/environment, student enrollment behaviors and scan of external environment. Use data results to establish focused goals each for recruitment, retention, service, etc., and enrollment projection models. Approve strategic goals and enrollment projection models. Develop action steps, accountability, and metrics. Implement action steps. Monitor progress and report results to campus and executive leadership. Required Qualifications* Minimum of ten years professional experience in higher education (preferably in academic and enrollment management). Proven experience and success supervising staff and administrators with a focus on recruitment, enrollment management or retention. Experience and knowledge of inclusion and diversity. Experience with the assessment, design, and implementation of university-wide change efforts. Experience administering a university budget. Proven ability to establish effective professional relationships with various university and community constituents. Commitment to cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion.
