Purchasing Manager – Structural Steel Direct Hire Location Oakdale, CA (On-site) Schedule Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:45 PM 45-minute lunch Compensation $90,000 – $100,000 annually (DOE) Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager with a proven background in the structural steel industry to lead and manage all purchasing operations. This role plays a critical part in supporting fabrication and erection projects by ensuring materials are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and in alignment with project timelines and quality standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and confident in making independent decisions in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage all purchasing activities related to structural steel fabrication and erection projects Interpret and analyze structural steel and erection drawings to accurately procure materials Source, evaluate, and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve optimal cost and delivery outcomes Track material availability, lead times, and delivery schedules to support production and project deadlines Maintain accurate purchasing records, documentation, and inventory controls Collaborate closely with project management, engineering, and fabrication teams Identify and resolve purchasing issues through proactive problem-solving and sound decision-making Ensure compliance with company procedures, project requirements, and industry standard. Qualifications 7 years of purchasing experience within the structural steel industry (required) Strong ability to read and interpret structural steel and erection drawings Demonstrated success in vendor negotiation and supplier relationship management Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills Ability to work independently and make informed decisions with minimal supervision High attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping and documentation Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally Benefits 401(k) Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Stable, full-time direct-hire opportunity Apply now and one of our recruiters will reach out to you!
