Responsibilities*
Customer Service
Interact daily with faculty, staff, students, parents and the
public.
Answer inquires and requests received from students, parents and
university departments.
Obtain and provide information to answer questions and
requests.
Interpret and explain U of M policies and procedures relating to
student accounts.
Responsible for answering email sent to cashier email account
Answer telephone and assist caller
Retrieve and handle cashier office voice mail
Represent the department at various functions
Adhere to FERPA laws
Cashier Window transactions
Process transactions for students, faulty, and other
departments.
Assist students with understanding their accounts.
Direct students to SIS to handle some business that cannot be done
at the window
Direct students to appropriate departments for information they are
requesting
Information Inquiries Direct people to correct departments on this
floor or other buildings
Internal Processes
Daily reconciliations
Prepare and submit reports for other staff / departments
HSIP processing
NSF check processes
Order Supplies
Assist with paperwork for third party providers
Prepare work orders
Place and remove hold or other codes on student accounts.
Learn to read and understand student accounts.
Add comments to student accounts
Scan and review documents for electronic storage.
Prepare Itemized statements.
Support co-workers with projects they are working on.
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications*
Completion of high school education or equivalent.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively
communicate with a variety of individuals from diverse
backgrounds.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to adapt quickly
especially under stressful conditions.
Three to five years of customer service experience.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive work
environment.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Access is necessary.
Familiarity with Google suite of products.
Desired Qualifications*
One to two years office experience in a Cashier's office or Banking
Institution.
Need to have experience in the counting and balancing of daily
monetary transactions.
Knowledge of Banner is helpful.
Ability to keyboard with speed and accuracy is desirable.
Be familiar with FERPA
College Degree

the needs of the department.
