Role

The Accountant III will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. They will assist in ensuring that the company receives payment for goods and services offered and support in resolving issues, exceptions, and process payable and receivable transactions.
This role may assume some or all of the duties of the Accountant I and Accountant II positions, however will function at a greater level of independence and will be expected to make critical decisions throughout their daily activities.

Responsibilities

Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
Codes invoices and supports manager with closing monthly books.
Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
Assist with research and process set-up within the accounting system.
Calculates and reports sales tax based on state requirements.
Supports general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
Supports in preparation of monthly balance sheets, income statements, and KPI's.
Provide support in maintaining the general ledger.
Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
Provide support for the team and training where needed.
Manage accounting filing and shredding system for all accounting documents.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications

Effective organizational skills and ability to prioritize work with attention to detail.
Strong professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills Ability to effectively interact with and manage financial and other database systems.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.
In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Ability to apply independent analytical thinking to define problems.
Ability to maintain confidentiality to sensitive information.
Ability to prepare tax reports.
Proficient MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
Effective time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Advanced knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping software.
Familiarity with financial accounting statements with ability to analyze details of accounting data and reports.
Various regulatory filing and other compliance procedures experience.

Education

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field plus Master's degree or CPA.
5+ years of experience in progressive accounting roles.
Experience with all aspects of accounting, auditing principles, and best practices.
Experience with ERP systems.
