In addition to being the primary point of contact and key relationship manager for the member, the Business Account Specialist is accountable for prospecting new business and retaining and strengthening existing relationships. The Business Account Specialist analyzes the member's financial and operating strategies and recommends alternative or additional financial services to best meet the member's immediate and long-term personal and business needs.We are looking for a candidate with experience developing a Business membership program. We need someone who has compliance knowledge, understands the nature of Business Accounts, and has long term aspirations to grow into a Business Account Manager. The Business Account Specialist is responsible for managing a portfolio of business members who require financial services and products to meet their needs. The Business Account Specialist analyzes the member's financial and operating strategies and recommends alternative or additional financial services to best meet the member's immediate and long-term personal and business needs. Serves as a trusted advisor in delivering comprehensive and customized business products and solutions tailored to the financial needs and circumstances of business members. Helps develop business deposit account process and procedures along with noting the proper documentation for business accounts.Grows portfolio by prospecting for new members and strengthening relationships with existing members.Builds relationships by calling on existing members to truly understand their businesses and analyze product and service growth opportunities and ensure profitability of portfolio.Use knowledge of business, finance, banking, credit and risk management to identify, recommend and promote products and solutions that best serve the member while still working within risk parameters that protect the credit union.Attend community and/or specific industry forums, conferences and/or meetings in order to broaden relationship networks, referral sources and continually deepen knowledge of trends, practices, services and the competitive landscape.Meets with members and takes applications for small business lending. Works with the lending team to review the member's financial condition and assess the member's ability to re-pay the loan. Makes underwriting decisions within approval authority and closes loans once due diligence and documentation is completed.Participates in developing lending and deposit business for the credit union. Calls on members to expand existing business; and calls on prospects seeking opportunities to expand the credit union's member base (via referrals and/or involvement in chamber and other community business events.)Assumes responsibility for growth of commercial deposit and loans, as well as Sponsor Employer Groups and personal account opportunities.Be a liaison for business members. Assisting with servicing needs, developing ongoing relationships, problem solving and auditing.Work closely with branch operations to set-up member new accounts and additional services.Ensure and monitor that portfolio members receive extraordinary service and identify additional business opportunities for them.Make recommendations for process improvements and efficiencies.Builds relationships with key individuals including but not limited to members of area chambers' of commerce, service organizations and non-profit groups to help influence growth of credit union.Interacts effectively with other departments to ensure quality service delivery throughout the credit union.Collaborates with Compliance for audit and compliance issues.Understands BSA and related regulatory obligations (customer due diligence, beneficial ownership, FinCEN guidance).Understands how business entities are legally organized, what documentation is required for each type of legal entity and who is authorized to sign on behalf of each type of entity.Reviews documents, and reads/understands and communicates to others what they mean.Teaches others about legal and regulatory requirements for transactions (who has authority to conduct, who can sign for the entity), as well as be able to explain those requirements to applicants and members. Assumes responsibility for compliance with BSA and other regulatory procedures Compliance with Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and USA PATRIOT Act Maintains current training of BSA and other regulatory compliance activities Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS To meet established expectations of UBCCU's Core Values, organizational goals and all the essential requirements of this job description. QUALIFICATIONSEducation: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through apprenticeship Required Knowledge: Knowledge of Teller policies and procedures. Basic understanding of Credit Union operations. Awareness of BSA, OFAC, USA Patriot Act, and CTR/SARsGeneral office software, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite Experience Required: One to three years of similar or related experience Skills/Abilities: Accurate and detailed self-starter who can exercise independent judgement and make sound decisions. Possess good time management and organizational skills, and the flexibility and determination to handle deadlines and a wide variety of duties each day. Ability to lead small and large groups. Knowledge of and successful experience with conflict resolution. Ability to take initiative in recommending/making changes to improve efficiencies. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.Repetitive Motion: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate typical office equipment.Physical Strength: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time.
